Sarawak Secretariat

  • Public Service Commission, Sarawak Branch is responsible on matters regarding recruitment and service for members of the Federal Public Service in Sarawak. The Secretariat provides consultancy services to the public on career opportunities in the public service as well as managing the services of the federal department personnel throughout Sarawak.

  • Functions of the Secretariat as stipulated in the Constitution under the Article 144 and 144(1), which contains matters such as:-
    • Appoitment of candidate for the Federal Services in the State of Sarawak
    • Management of services such as Confirmation of Appointment, Endorsement of Initial Salary Upgrade, Extension of Probationary Period, Confirmation of Service and Conferment into Pensionable Status for federal personnel throughout Sarawak
    • Management of Malaysian Public Service Examination and Service that has been predetermined by Ministries/Public Service Department of Malaysia.

  • Managing matters relating to appointment for training and offer to permanent posts for paramedical posts within 8 weeks
  • Managing matters concerning service issues such as confirmation, conferment into pensionable status, service transfer and other issues to be completed within 6 weeks
  • Managing matters pertaining to In-Service Examination and Pre-Service Examination according to schedule as stipulated in the Annual Examination Calendar

  • Recruitment
    • Arrangements of interview for candidates
    • Preparation of the Commission's Contemplation Paper
    • Preparation of offer letter for training and appointment of successful paramedical candidates
    • Preparation of interview packages for the posts of Managerial and Professional Group as well as the Support Group I in Sarawak under the jurisdiction of the headquarters
    • Surveillance on recruitment activities done at the Ministries/Federal Departments
  • Service
    • Managing matters concerning the Confirmation of Appointment of Federal Personnel
    • Managing matters with regard to the Confirmation of Service, Extension of Probationary Period, Endorsement of Initial Salary Upgrade and Conferment into Pensionable Scheme of Federal Personnel
    • Carrying out matters pertaining to the Termination of Employment
    • Carrying out inspections at the Ministries/Federal Departments
  • Examination
    • Management of Public Service Commission Examination
    • Managing and carrying out examination activities as predetermined in the Malaysian Public Service Examination Annual Calendar
    • Conducting briefings on Malaysian Public Service Examination administrative matters at various Ministries and Federal Departments throughout Sarawak
